Acoustic Stringed Instrument Making

Typical build time to finished instrument is 3-4 years

The course enables the student to design and build a professional quality acoustic stringed instrument. Topics covered range from basic wood technology (Luthiery) through to final tuning, setting up and maintenance of the instrument. All aspects of design and construction are carried out by the students, no use is made of partly constructed or "kit" components. Choose from a variety of subjects including steel string, nylon strung classical, jazz style carved top guitar, carved or flat top mandolin, mandola, octave mandola (Bouzouki), mandocello, citterns, acoustic basses, lutes, harps and more.
