Early Music Instruments

This section showcases my collection of early music instruments. Each piece is a faithful recreation of historical designs, built to offer the authentic sounds of the Renaissance and Baroque eras. Here you will find lutes, vihuelas, and orpharions, expertly built instruments designed for historical performance.

  • A classical wooden lute with strings and a carved soundhole on a white background.

    Lute

A classic seven course renaissance instrument. Maple body, neck and pegbox. Spruce belly. Ebony fingerboard and pegs.

  • A vintage stringed musical instrument with a carved female face at the top, multiple tuning pegs, a wooden neck, and a decorative round sound hole, set against a plain white background.

    Orpharion

This is an exact copy of the famous Francis Palmer original made in 1617 and now hanging in the Claudius collection in Copenhagen.

  • Close-up of an acoustic guitar with a decorative rosette around the sound hole.

    Vihuela

This 11 string copy of a renaissance vihuela is based on the Praetorius drawings. The ornamentation is a hybrid of various early stringed instruments from the period.
